29 years - honest!! I've now been here 32 years, so still dealing with it. Daft, eh? It was a combination of reasons following one of my annual trips back, and for some reason I went into an awful depression. For a while I toyed with the idea of going back there to live when I retired, but that worked out too expensive - selling my rather nice home here wouldn't even get me a tatty flat back there! But the reality is - life really is better here, if only I could go to a country pub for Sunday lunch!

Teens smoke weed here at an alarming early age . This isnt the land of the innocent.

We've had a few rough points too, DH had an accident at work (5 weeks in)and had to have surgery on his leg and 6 months off work. He got workers comp which is less than wages and we had to use our savings to live. Then when he was off crutches my daughter broke her leg (she wanted her own set of crutches) We can't seem to get back on top of ourselves, financially or otherwise. Family life i suppose!
Child care costs would be extortionate for us, so me working isn't an option (and i never had to in the UK) just feel like i want my old life back....sometimes!

Thanks Jo xx

Sorry you are having such a hard time Jo. You have been looking after your family and ther ailments and now it looks like you need to go out and have some fun .

not sure how much day care is where you are, in Quebec we pay $7.00 a day but maybe you could work PT while your hubby works. Is week end work an option?

hope you feel better soon

Wow that's cheap  Way back when my 16 year old was preschool I paid about £12 per day for 5 hours - no tax breaks either then.

yes, in fact last year it was $5.00 a day but with inflation and all.... seriously, it was the Quebec Governments way of getting all the Stay at home mothers back to work.

The principle was great but now you will never get a place unless you put your name on the waiting list right after conception

Sounds a bit like the Hokey Pokey song.

Sadly, the man who wrote the song, Larry LaPrise, died in April 1996 aged 83 in Boise, Idaho. He wrote the tune for the Sun Valley, Idaho, ski crowd in the late 1940s, but it took a recording by big band leader Ray Anthony to make the Hokey Pokey a nationwide phenomenon.

At his funeral, things were going well until they put his left foot in....

Princessteve isn't gender challenged, he's gender bending, blending, mixing and mending, as I do. Although I'm happy with the 'feminine' traits that I have, I am happy with my 'masculine' traits as well.

I'm not a chick with a dick though... just to be clear!

There is clear and there is clear. You are being slightly clearer than is strictly necessary. Or palatable.
