absolutely not. things like this really annoy me, paints us all in such a bad light, the ones making the remarks and this person bringing a complaint before the court, I mean really, he can't hold his temper at a traffic stop, then storms out of work because he is getting well deserved stick. if he had copped to it (no pun) admitted his mistake and apologised he would have been disciplined and then learned to laugh at it in time with his peers. but then again that's a reasonable person which clearly he is not.
as for those making the comments, if it got out of hand then clearly that is unacceptable, but from what I have seen it's nothing more than a mickey take at his expense, hardly the racist, sexist or homophobic abuse that one would connect with this kind of payout.
in short makes a laughing stock out of us in the job.

Not sure if you have heard the latest, he has been on radio 4 protesting his actions, methinks he doth protest etc
His force paid out 20,000 in compensation, yet the driver was found guilty in court, so this appears that yes the driver was in the wrong, but the officer was excessive in his application of force. As to the officers concerns that the driver may have continued and caused a danger, well yes quite possibly, but this has to be taken in totality, it was daylight, the weather was fine, and it is on back country roads away from residential areas and volume traffic, so I would say that's a bit thin personally.
And for the argument about heat of the moment, having to react etc, well this chase went on for 17mins I think in total, plenty of time to develop a safety plan, and if it was dangerous it would/should have been terminated long before this.

I think so, unless something happens. Couple of hours to the coast, handy for going to the States and handy for relatives further north.
