Re: has the time come for a black santa ?
TBH, I don't think there are any racists on this forum. But people do get "hot under the collar" when racist attitudes are accepted. The teacher clearly had a racist attitude. Maybe fifty years ago poking fun at a child in that way was seen as common sense, but these days it isn't. Society is striving to overlook features which were once seen as "racial" because now we know better, that there are no "races". A teacher should be extra aware of this, that's why many of us (and the US media) find it so unpalatable.
When I started this thread, it was more as joke than anything else, since it involved some childish fictional entity. But I am not surprised at how this thread developed/disintegrated
The teacher in question might be racist although I think not. But if he showed his true feelings then he is even more stupid than I thought. Meanwhile, unless someone can prove otherwise, I am prepared to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt
After all I am sure we have all said things we regret, especially when we did not mean them to begin with, or they were are misconstrued

I think that there may well be racists at this forum, or some who are inclined to be that, or will defend racism. But, if so, no one here is stupid enough to show their true feelings

Ah, I see its the famous 'montreal mike sarcasm'. Haha, so funny. Nearly as funny as laughing at a black kid for wearing a Santa hat. He's not white you see. And no thats not racist at all.

Once a story, any story, gains momentum on the net, its impossible to stop, regardless of how much/little truth there may be to the tale.

Ignoring the source for this thread, I'm not 100% convinced, that a move to the days of the internet driven witch hunt is a "change for the better".

The title of the related thread seems very interesting and so is the fact that I come to know while going through the link provided in the above post. The Ninth-grade student Christopher Rougier dressed as Father Christmas is not a very shocking news but dressing like Father Christmas have become a fashion statement , this is the throbbing fact for sure.
