Gordon Brown Resigns

Breaking News

Gordon Brown has resigned as the Leader of the Labour Party. Yippee :rofl:

Curious and scared of what will now happen to the Financial Markets and especially the Foreign Exchange Rate?
Anyone had any thoughts on this potential spanner in the works for our Immigration Dreams?

He might have been a bit grumpy, but he was our longest serving chancellor and someone with vast knowledge and experience with financial matters. Apart from Darling, I can't think of anyone else that'll help the UK through it's current financial owes. You're really going to trust this to Candy Floss Cameron or Care Bear Clegg?

I'm sure this is what is uppermost in the minds of all thinking Brits today.

Universal suffrage will be the undoing of Britain, I tell you.

Like selling most of Britain's gold at $250 an ounce and creating a huge bubble in public sector employment that will now have to be followed by huge cuts?

In my opinion Brown will go down in history as not just the worst PM since Heath, but possibly the worst Chancellor of all time. Between his time in No 10 and No 11 he's almost single-handedly responsible for taking one of the strongest economies in Europe and turning into a basket case.

Which party do you think would make your immigration process run more smoothly?

Is experience actually a good point though? One would have thought that, if experience was a worthy attribute, the longest serving Chancellor and someone with vast knowledge etc wouldn't have f*&ked it up in the first place:p

He abolished boom and bust as well as being shrewd enough to announce that the world was at the eve of a new golden age in banking in 2007. So many achievements.

Unfortunately with economic cycles it will always stuff up.

The problem for Brown was his claim to ending boom and bust- something that will never be done.

To be fair, didn't he actually say he had ended 'Tory boom and bust'? In which case he's technically correct, since this is the usual Labour bust that brings down a Labour government.

Because in Canada we don't get to vote for our President Obama so we watch other people's elections.

Besides isn't the Queen of Canada involved?
