It wasn't the speed, or page loading, it was just all those damn boxes offering features that if I wanted to use, I wouldn't be opening Maps. And then not closing when I wanted to reject them and just look at the damn map.

Do you mean the damn "Directions Box" which won't disappear? I dislike that.

I'm happy to say that since I went back to the original version I don't recall a specific box, just boxes.

I hate the way google just keeps changing for the sake of change.

There was a time when if you googled a name on images to see who it was, a bunch of images would come up that may or may not have been that person but their name would at least appear under the image and you could at least work out the right one.

Now you do it and you wonder why the hell a photo of Elton John or a trifle came up.

I discovered that right at the bottom was a button for 'basic' version (the original) but could i ever get to it? I'd scroll down and no sooner begin to move the cursor to select it than the page would go back up before I could do it. :frown:

I have it saved now.

Enjoy it while it lasts. As I posted above, it will be reverting to the new version for everyone in due course.

I actually like the new Google Maps. It has a cleaner look to it, the actual map is larger and now it is easier to look at things closer to the locations you are looking at.

You'll get used to it.. Just like you got used to the old Google Maps when that was new..

I've never known an old one.

I guess it depends what you use them for. If 90% of my use is made ineffective, then I won't be getting used to it, I'll be going elsewhere.

I just looked at that link and took a quick look at the video.

They have reviews for the restaurant you're looking for. Great.

So whereas I would previously google restaurants if I was looking for somewhere to eat, found something possibly interesting including its location, google maps will enable me to look for the location of a restaurant and see reviews.

Pardon me but that looks like the same thing I can already do. Only now, when I want to go straight to a map for something simple, I'll probably have to make several selections before I can see it.

Why am I thinking automated menus when making a phone call?

Still it can't be as bad as the Guardian did with their blogs. Can it? :o

I don't know why these companies feel the need to change things that don't need changing.

I only use google as I can't find a search engine anywhere near as good as google, bing doesn't come close to being good.

FB just changed parts of their website as well.
