TWD Season 8. A bit dull - even more unlikely story line than previously! We shall see...

Made a start on Marcella on Netflix. Not bad but plenty of room for improvement.
Pleased to see the room for improvement has been filled.

It has had some great seasons but the last two have been frustrating to say the least. The junk yard people drove me insane. If this season isn't good I'm going to leave it. There's too many great things on TV these days to waste time with a show that's lost it's way.

We just finished watching it and I enjoyed it in general however I found the end to be a bit too good to be true. Lots of red herrings.

Quite a bit of suspension of disbelief needed for Marcella but it does irritate me when people focus on a couple of things and don't have the imagination to see how that might be possible.

Two incidents in one episode: One minute it was dark/night and soon it was light and how did she find the kidnapped victim when all they had was the phone being tracked was "at the River" Thames.

Okay, so when you're in a bright room it looks darker outside than it is. It's a similar idea under bright street lights, the sky looks darker than it is. So here they are in a street outside a block of flats. They're in shadow and it's dark That makes it look darker than it is.

A witness is saying something about finishing a job about 4.00 am before coming home and discovering the child snatch.

So while it was dark - but already some time after 4.00 am - the guy searched, was interviewed, car chase (of sorts) ensued and then light. Perfectly feasible.

As for finding the kidnap victim...the map/tracker shows the phone is 'live' on a map. I don't know about anyone else but when you can see the spot, look for a street name near. Or a landmark, whatever.

Then get in your car and look for it. When you get close, you discover the car has been set on fire. It seems reasonable to assume there may be some connection.

Is that so difficult?

I have to say that the latest season of Great British Bake-off has been pretty dull. It isn't the presenters, I do like Noel Fielding, he appeals to my child a sense of humour. The remaining contestants are just so dull. I couldn't really care who wins.-A bit of a shame

What do you think Oink?

I've been watching reruns of Shooting Stars but have found them a little dour, given the present climate.

I missed a bit from this post. I was sleepy

It's not that people can't work out logical explanations, more a case that they flood the comments section of TV reviews saying how ridiculous something was. There must have been about 30 comments all saying how badly done those two bits were.

Come on, a guy has kidnapped a child, chief suspect is an unidentified serial killer, you know whereabouts by the river a phone was tracked to, it's your city you are in so you likely know it a bit and when you get there a car is on fire. It rather stands out what with the flames and smoke. And, of course, you're a police officer so you're less likely to just gawp at it. Maybe, just maybe, it's the car you were looking for and has been set alight to destroy any evidence.

I'm watching The Five and it too needs the suspension of disbelief.

I liked the bit about the marks on the door frame

Dunno about that. I reckon Sam Peckinpah would be happy enough with the bloody stabbing and shootings

But we are in Canada now...which seems to rate violence and sex somewhat differently! A bit of body A lot of violence

I am currently enjoying "Stranger Things" the second series being just as good as the first one and a Canadian colleague has got me hooked on "Outlander" which seems to be a bit of bodice ripping fun when I'm on my own for the evenings.

Watch the new bbc series gunpowder, just completed - on iplayer, very gory, lots of hanging drawing and quartering, good telling of the gunpowder plot, starring kit harrington [winter is coming...]

Iā€™m watching both. Never thought I would binge on fantasy TV. Outlander borders on soft porn, but enjoyable nevertheless šŸ˜œšŸ˜œšŸ˜œ
