friends or acquaintances?

3 or 4 'friends' lots of acquaintances.
I put the word friends in bunny ears because true friendships develop over time and last years. I've only been ere 3 but its looking good so far.

I solved my problem about massage volunteers last night - I put a "wanted" post on freecycle asking for volunteers who would like a massage..
And I got inundated - 48 people before the moderator decided that my post was not about recycling and decided to slap me on the wrist and delete the post (but the cheeky bugger also asked for a massage!)
still the offer still stands - if anyone wants a massage in Calgary get in touch

Bugger
if you still need volunteers I spoke to my oh last night who seemed very willing to let a strange foreign woman get her hands all over him

Joking aside pm me your details and we'll go from there

Hi there, I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
My husband and I moved to Nova Scotia 2.5 yrs ago from Hampshire. We were both heavily involved in the agriculture and equestrian industry and were hoping to do the same here. Unfortunately both industries here are really on a downward side. We have a number of aquaintances but no real friends or social circle. I think where we are it is pretty hard to get involved in the community if you dont have kids and dont go to church, so we are struggling to meet like-minded people - under the age of 50 anyway! (we are in our thirties and have met some lovely people of my closes aquaintances one is 45 and the other is nearly 60 - great people but it would be nice to meet some people my own age.
People in the area seem to be very nervous of new faces and although superficially nice it has been hard for us to make friends that we might spend more time with ie go to supper with etc!! The area we are in, everyone grew up together, noone has really travelled out the province and most have little ambition - and that is great, I love the fact that so many people are 'content' here, but it makes it hard to make friends. Anyhow thats my two cents.

I'm young ish. I have made a couple of good friends. Struggled for a long time, plenty of people becoming nodding aquaintances down the pub but that was about it.
Joined the Volunteer fire service last year and was able to meet the locals a couple of whom have now become very good friends, it takes time, our town is approx 1200 people.
I have also got a great group of expat friends that has evolved after arriving approx 18 mths ago.
