Re: Flying the flag?
If, like me, one is fortunate enough to have a garage and a shed, which is the technically correct storage location for the lawnmower?

Oh please, it's the least toytown suburb I've ever seen. I only wish there had been the rule someone else mentioned about no garages facing the street. My house is dominated by the fugly things, thankfully it's only 2, 3 would have been unbearable!
And I keep the dog in the garage. The American neighbours seem to make theirs a verandah substitute with sofas facing out. |

and prior to it being referred to as the UJ it was called the Union Flag, so your point counts for zip in the grand scheme of things. One more thing, HM The Queen Mother (God bless her) referred to the Union Flag as the 'People's Flag', so I think we can.
HH Why's my point not relevant? You seemed to take exception to people referring to it as a union jack because it should properly be called the union flag - as several posters have since pointed out, either is correct through over a century of common usage. A bit of a silly point to argue over, anyway... |

21 was legal drinking age in Alberta when I arrived so I never got into the drinking routine here. I do like cider does that help my cause any? ;)

Re: Flying the flag?
MOH, 15 years Royal Navy insists that the flag can only be called a Union Jack when flying from on a ship. Though that "ship" could be shore based like the HMS whatevers they have in Portsmouth
So there. Must be true, him indoors says so. We have a tiny St Georges flag left over from archery shoots celebrating Agincourt, and a tiny Maple leaf stuck in a pen pot on the desk. I hope thats not too ostentatious |

We don't fly a flag but if we did then I would chose both the Maple Leaf and a Scottish flag like the Saltire or the Lion Rampant (both Scottish flags kinda make up the Nova Scotia flag).
I would fly the Scottish flag lower than the Canadian flag out of respect for my adopted country :) ...........Saltire............. Lion Rampant........Nova Scotia flag |

We have a Croatian flag outside ours...we live in a triplex and the owners are Croatian and it appeared after Croatia lost:confused:
It's funny our little boy has an Argentinian football kit but not an England one, might be something to do with the price of the shirt and shorts, under $15. |

Well, I am almost embarrassed to admit we are flying the Canadian, BC, US & German flags.
OH wants to add the cross of St. George too. There's also flags saying 'Open' & 'Welcome' but please can we be forgiven its a campground after all |
Re: Flying the flag?
We have a huge Maple Leaf flag that was given to an ex neighbor (an RCMP Officer) by Sheila Copps and then given to us on the day we became Canadian citizens. We'll fly it on Tuesday.
As for more important things, the beer and my power tools are, of course, kept in the basement beside the comfy chair in front of the wide screen TV. How on earth is man meant to relax otherwise? Naturally, the beer is stored in a small fridge with the Canuck's logo on the door. |
Re: Flying the flag?
We have a Welsh Dragon number plate on the front of our van which we bought in Walmart if that counts. They must have bought a job lot because I've seen a few vehicles around Regina with them on recently.
Our neighbour flies a Canadian flag. In Regina someone has painted their fence half Sask and half Canadian flag which can be seen clearly from the ring road. |

I'm flying two estate agents flags, in the hope someone buys my house!

Re: Flying the flag?
Mainly fly the union or England flag, but on b.days, canada day etc fly the maple leaf. Once put up the BC flag and literally had several passers by knock to ask what the flag was :D.

Re: Flying the flag?
We have a Scottish flag up on the wall of our garage, it gets a lot of looks from folks walking past if we leave the door open, probably trying to figure out where it's from I think.

At this moment I have four Maple Leaf flags. However, I have to admit that this is only because I was at Canadian Tire and the cashier asked me if I wanted some flags. So not being one to refuse anything if its free, here they are:
