Fish and Chip Shop in Toronto

It's a bit further west, but the The Thistle in Burlington used serve a good plate of fish and chips with Scottish plain bread & butter. It has been many years since I have eaten there as I am now even further west of Burlington.

Yeah, I've been caught too ... but it's take-out only mostly (there's a couple of tables), and I expect demand really tails off then.

Shame Canada doesn't catch cod in the Atlantic anymore then, and hasn't for 20 years. All Canadian cod is pacific cod which is a different species, and is why cod is more expensive than haddock. Whereas in the UK most cod is from the Icelandic regions or some from the Irish sea area.

There are many authentic Sushi, Chinese, Indian restaurants in England that are usually authentic and often run by chefs native to the cuisine. Why wouldn't Fish & Chip shops outside of England strive for authenticity to original English Fish & Chips?

It's quite tall, for a loaf and I would say a little coarser than other bread.
No evidence of Iron Bru in the process.

It has a crust only on the top and bottom. There is no crust on the sides due to the unbaked loaves being stuck together in batches, baked together then torn into individual loaves afterwards.

Forgot to mention that there is usually some dispute over who gets the "heel end" as they make even better toast.
