Can anyone point me in the direction of a good fish and chip shop in Toronto please?

np. Sadly, the Nova Fish Bar, proximity to which was my original reason for moving to the Beach, is no more. Duckworth's isn't faultless but is the best I know of.

What a shame...that would have been convenient. Quite often go to the movie theatre there...no traffic and a fairly quiet theatre.

Oh, the big new one. The Fox is an independent, father east, opposite the Goof.

Just Googled it...it's the oldest continually running movie theatre in Toronto...maybe the oldest in Canada.

It certainly has a hint of mustiness about it. Quigley's is a nice pub with music and nasty bouncers just west of there, that can be combined with a film and it's almost like you're in Highgate.

My vote would be for the chip shop opposite Trinity Bellwoods park on Queen, which is pretty good as far as Canadian fish and chip shops go. Avoid the place on Harbord at all costs it is worthy of the vomit smiley...

The One That Got Away on King and Portland is actually pretty good. Better chips than anywhere else I've tried in Toronto.

I don't know if they're still around but there was a little cubby hole place near U of T called Harbord Fish and Chips.

Not a chippie but Allen's on Danforth does the BEST battered fish and chips for dinner that I've had in Canada...
