But what of signs of Xmas itself?

Shoppers Drug Mart have the tins of Quality Street in.

I bought half a dozen packs of Purdey's Christmas Pecan Rolls, only because I am taking them to the UK as a gift.
I think the Canadians do a better job at keeping Christmas at bay than the UK!

Just got a Christmas card from a realtor. Hate to tell her that we really don't want to sell our house.

I think they try to build up their post count with quick inconsequential messages before posting links, etc.

Shopping online and shopping in stores is one of the signs that Christmas is coming. I don't do it personally, but I know that many do.

Doesn't that imply that shopping only happens when xmas is approaching though?

Hence my confusion at the earlier comment.

I think it's fairly common knowledge that shopping occurs throughout the year, with a marked acceleration in the last 2 or 3 months leading up to the holiday. Some people will leave it until the last week or day while others will try to buy all their presents well in advance to get it over with. I did my Christmas shopping yesterday after work. I bought Ballantines, Bushmills, Screech, and No.12 Ouzo. I'll probably be topping up some presents here and there over the next 2 1/2 months.

Re: First sign of Christmas?

I think our spending probably goes down the last 2 months of the year, too many crowds in the stores so we avoid them at all costs.

We don't do presents, but we do send out a few cards to family, that's about the extent of our holiday shopping, $5 for cards and about $10 for postage.
