First sign of Christmas?
 

You know it's coming when the Halloween stuff is in the stores.

But what of signs of Xmas itself?

Shoppers Drug Mart have the tins of Quality Street in. :lol:

Costco had xmas light and trees in a couple of weeks ago and Walmart had egg nog in the fridges yesterday :(

Naffing* Costco had Christmas stuff back in August. Much to the disgust of my 6 year old. "Daddy it's still summer, why are there christmas trees in Costco? I don't want it to be winter yet?!"

Sainsburys started stocking mince pies and few other festive items from early September.

Nearly related- Canadian Tire had some snow shovels out. The old boy in the area said he nearly punched the manager when said manager decided to bring them out. But at $12 seemed to be a fair investment to me...

Halloween was still in its infancy when I left the UK. A few kids out trick or treating or a 'legitimate' excuse for throwing eggs and flour around but that was about it.

But with all the costumes taking over parts of the stores, enormous tubs of pumpkins outside the supermarkets, industrial size boxes of fun-size bars to give out to the little darlings out trick or treating, skeletons and gravestones appearing on people's front lawns etc and Thanksgiving, I feel there's plenty in the way of xmas things appearing in the shops in Canada as early as in the UK.

No Frills was stocking eggnog 2 days ago, so what used to be my indicator of the beginning of the season is no longer accurate.

Someone in an FB group I am a member of was asking for dairy-free recipes for Eggnog yesterday!
Tis not right I tell you.

Our Canadian tire has had Christmas decorations on sale for over a month now - albeit clearance of last years stock to start with.
I can see their point though for people putting outdoor lights up - you want to think about doing it before the deep-freeze sets in any minute now.

We had flurries here 10 days ago. Winter tires are on already.

Hard to miss it's nearing Christmas when Wal-Mart has Christmas stuff out before Haloween stuff is out.... and Eggnog came out earlier then normal around here, have not seen it available in September before this year.

Technically your supposed to have winter tires on by now in this area, but eh it's too early and legal wise our all seasons make the cut to not get a ticket as they have the M + S symbol which is sufficient for this highway law wise, after last year using winter tires, not using them again, they sucked in the rain, and with 1 day of snow and hundreds of days of rain, I think good tires in rain is more important.

A store in the shopping mall had Christmas decorations out this Saturday. :thumbdown:

We saw a house in Osprey Village in Pitt Meadows 2 weeks ago with the full monty of Christmas decorations in the front garden, flashing reindeer, lights, tree, garlands, wreaths, holly, the works.

All lit up and it was still September!!!




Fortunately there was also an entire film crew and cast present, otherwise I would have assumed I had gone just a little bit mad...

We had our little downtown turned into Christmas for a couple weeks in August, along with some snow, man made of course due to some movie being filmed. I think it was a made for TV US movie if I recall, we get a lot of those.

The Bay in downtown Toronto has been putting its Christmas display up for the last 6 weeks or so.
