Default First Class Travel

We are officially landing on xams day but have to return to the UK to wait for house to sell Me and my hubbie were having a discussion last night about when we finally fly over for good and thought that we might splash out a little as its only the one way and fly 1st class, can anyone recommend an airline who give great service for a great price. We usually fly with Canadian Affair.
Thanks Sally

My OH has flown First Class with Air Canada and would recommend it (mind you someone else was paying for it). I just had a look at their website and for a one way flight on December 25 it cost almost £3,000 per person I'm not sure if any of the cheaper airlines actually have First Class seating but I'm sure someone else will know.

I bet flying first class would be great...but couldn't you find something better to spend $6000 on when you get here? A fabulous week away somewhere as a treat once you have been here for a month or so?

I have flown Business with Air Canada and British Airways and would say of the two Air Canada was best. I wasn't paying but would say if you can afford it, its worth it.

If you want to make your arrival in Canada a little special without spending a lot of money you could always arrange for a stretch limo from the airport, and bring some Champagne with you of course

I don't think first class is much better than business class especially if you are flying with a company which provide a space seat or flat bed seat as they call it. if you are booking yourself, be sure what type of seats they are using. I used Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Vancouver and it was nice and comfortable. My return flight was with Canada Air and it was a flat bed seat from Vancouver to Toronto and a regular seat from Toronto back to Frankfort which I felt like I'm in a regular bus.

If you can use any o the Middle Eastern companies like Emirates, Qatar Airways or El Etihad Airlines, go for it as they have the best service and most of their fleet is new. I found a big deference between their service and the European Airlines service. Stay away from the American companies like Delta or United Airlines. Very bad service.

I fly very often for business and my company covers my expenditures but If I was paying, I would never buy more than economy class which is just fine for a short or even for long flights. Its better to use the saved money for somthig else.

If you are travelling together check the seating arraignment of the aircraft.
As a lot of first class areas of aircraft don’t have seats, as we of the cattle class know it, they have suites, which varies from airline to airline.
A suite usually consists of a seat that reclines fully to bed position, pull out TV, game controller and has a privacy screen, so if you are travelling with someone it make it difficult to communicate with each other over or around the screen.
If you fly I think its emirates they have fully enclosed caulicles even have a roof for complete privacy and gold plate everywhere.
I can say that the Air Canada suites are comfortable.
Sorry I can not help with the air line question.

Only BA has a true First Class product for flights from the UK to Canada.

Air Canada Executive first is very similar to BA's Club Class.

They are all a much nicer way to travel than "cattle class", but are they worth the money - NO WAY.

I believe some of the Charter Air Lines have a "Front of the Plane" product but all you get is 3" or 4" extra leg room and free booze. But the extra cost is more reasonable.

As a half way measure how about premium economy with BA (if they fly to where you want to go)?

Now that is a cool way to get here, and most probably cost less than 1st Class on BA.

Just remember that even if you only want a on way ticket always buy a return if flying with a scheduled airline. So if you did want first class, book an ecomony return (which you may or may not use). If you did that with a return say October- you could go for £3157 for both of you- still expensive though! Club world ( still a flat bed) would be £2159 for 2 - not so bad for a special flight.
