I thought it was a cash in on saving private ryan. I watched one, but decided it would spoil the film (like the stargate series retrospectively made the film shite)

It's got absolutely nothing to do with Saving Private Ryan....
The only thing they share is that its set in WWII.

the wire is actually well done, at least the first season. I've been involved in many wire investigations and it was largely very accurate and is the first realistic cop show I've seen (at least for the most part). I was impressed that they even included the notion of live monitoring on public phones and resort to clauses - very important details that would be otherwise discounted and only noticed by coppers.

I also liked the bitter member who was only interested in where to send his over time claim - now that is realistic.
