Buffy Sainte-Marie

She was born in Saskatchewan, but adopted and raised in the USA.

Years and years ago, I saw her in a television interview. The interviewer asked her what it had been like to sing before the Queen. Without missing a beat, and with a perfectly straight face, she said, "Oh, I didn't know that the Queen sang."

Wow I feel very uncultured and ignorant - when I started this thread I never expected to read of so many famous Canadians...most of whom I'm ashamed to admit I've never heard of! (particularly the curling gang?!).

I think I thought James Taylor was Canadian cos his music sounds like he should be Canadian! (that's meant in a good way - I love his music!).

And I loved that poem (thanks Judy) - very moving :(

Oh here's another one I've just thought of (after reading an article on Anne of Green Gables & PEI in this month's 'Emigrate 2' magazine):- Louisa M. Montgomery!

That reminds me of an interview after he won his (later rescinded) medal.

He said something about records being beaten "but they can't take a medal away."

Interesting that nobody has asked who he is. Unless you meant a different Peter North to the one I'm....ooops...my wife is thinking of.

I had to google him just to make sure cos I did originally think he was from the US. Can you skate as well, did you teach him all he knows :D

Yes, we're watching the weather, luckily Mal is home for a few days so doesn't have to drive through any of it. Keep in, keep warm and keep drinking.
