Haven't seen many decent 'flounces' in recent times either. 😊

Heavens but I do miss a decent flounce! Come on boys and girls can't one of us pull one? I came close at Christmas....so I hid for a bit...a few times I have said how I felt, and I do have the odd cause, and then I have been frightened to turn on again in case you all want to take me down

Being a bit bored I noted that she last posted in Oct. 2013.
A silent flounce and therefore to be respected.

The title doesn't quite fit the context of this question but the inference does. Some posters just can't help but antagonise other contributors. It's like internet tourettes! But who makes the rules about what is acceptable and what isn't? Can one get away with comments and opinions that otherwise would be rude or inflammatory? I wonder if it's a medium for people who otherwise wouldn't be taken seriously to expound at great length on any subject they fancy, giving advice on any subject - whether they're right or not. Should there be any rules at all?
I like being entertained...Christ, I moved to Canada, I need to be...Rivington, just ignore it. Some people seem to just want to be aggravating and I don't know why... it just does seem that the odd sod comes on here with the express desire to put others down or make them feel horrid....if you need to be nasty or appear smug or superior then you probably have a great deal of deep seated problems.
I am 106 and have no plans for retirement...I won't ever be able to manage it since I've come to Canada

Same here Shard They don't teach latin in school anymore, I don't think they ever did here in Canada.

Re: In Dulci Jubilo
Funny thing is, there are occasionally posts here that rub me the wrong way but don't bother anyone else. And then there are some peoples posts that seem to offend others but I didn't find half as offensive as some of the stuff that gets ignored!
People take things different ways. While my ex-employers policy on this was that therefore you couldn't say anything to anyone, that wouldn't really work on a forum so I guess that's what the ignore button is for! And flouncing - or just taking a quiet break for a bit - is always an option (not so much if its the colleague sitting next to you )

Thanks for that - you just brought back nightmares of my third and fourth Latin teacher in his 1970's beige checked flares - aaaaargh!
Oh and those lovely Latin textbooks which had pictures of naked Romans in if you looked hard enough (hey it was an all girls school - we had to take what we could get in those days)

I know I have one - I think it's in the basement with all the bird books.
It's threads like this that make me realise how important speaking Latin can be. As a non-speaker I know or understand very few real sentences and am forced to get by with mere scraps and contractions, etc, et al, sic, ibid, ad infinitum. If only Canada had been invaded and conquered by the Romans instead of the English! We would have had the wheel much sooner as well.
