In Dulci Jubilo
The title doesn't quite fit the context of this question but the inference does. Some posters just can't help but antagonise other contributors. It's like internet tourettes! But who makes the rules about what is acceptable and what isn't? Can one get away with comments and opinions that otherwise would be rude or inflammatory? I wonder if it's a medium for people who otherwise wouldn't be taken seriously to expound at great length on any subject they fancy, giving advice on any subject - whether they're right or not. Should there be any rules at all?

I like being entertained...Christ, I moved to Canada, I need to be...Rivington, just ignore it. Some people seem to just want to be aggravating and I don't know why... it just does seem that the odd sod comes on here with the express desire to put others down or make them feel horrid....if you need to be nasty or appear smug or superior then you probably have a great deal of deep seated problems.
I am 106 and have no plans for retirement...I won't ever be able to manage it since I've come to Canada

I think you can make the comments all you want but you should also expect them to be challenged by any who want to. It is the internet, and as long nothing borders on racism etc etc then it's fair game.
Generally I have found that people such as that lack self awareness and have an inability to empathise. I know it makes no difference, that you will never change their mindset, but I do love a food challenge!

What about people who drop Latin phrases here and there, what's their modus operandi?

No one knows what anyone else is truly thinking/feeling so who knows.
