Driving Test - Failed !

I don't mean to sound callous, but if driving on unfamiliar roads makes your concentration evaporate and takes you out of your comfort zone, then I think its just as well you are not going to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public just yet.
What astounds me is the driving wrecks on "Canada's Worst Driver" managed to pass the test...What on earth were the examiners in those cases thinking.
Better luck next time.

Thanks for all the support - After sleeping on it, I think I will take the test again in a few weeks, when I am a bit more prepared.
I think one of my issues was choice of driving school, so I am going to change to a new one.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good driving instructor in Surrey, BC ?

Just earlier today I witnessed a professional (well, DHL delivery) driver pull a U-ey on a bridge on-ramp. For those familar with the Lions Gate bridge it was from the North Vancouver on ramp (just before two lanes become four lanes then become one lane) onto the Park Royal off ramp (just as two lanes become four lanes then split off into two in each direction again). He'd also left his cargo door open but fortutnately there was a full size pick-up between my subcompact and his load.

Hi,
I re-sat my practical test for the second time this morning and passed.
The roads were not a busy as the last time I sat the test, due to the holidays which helped a bit.
I am glad this stage is now over, and now I can get on with getting used to the roads over here.
Thanks to everyone who posted for their help and support.
Best wishes and Happy New Year.

Which driving school did you change to and would you recommend them?

Thanks for your responses - it is a relief to pass especially as it is snowing again here today (Saturday)
The driving school I used was the Valley Driving School - Surrey branch.
I would recommend them if you get the correct instructor. The first instructor I had I did not build up a rapport with and we did not get anywhere, and I failed my first test partly due to it.
As I paid for a few lessons in advance, I asked for a change in instructor and got Doug, who was great. Instead of teaching me how to drive, which I already knew how to do, he taught me what I needed to know to pass the test.
If you are going to use this branch, I can thoroughly recommend him.
Hope this helps
Best wishes
