Hi all,
From previous postings, you may know that I sat my BC driving theory test a few weeks back and passed.
Today was the day I sat my practical. The first five minutes were ok. As we were driving along she said "today we will go on to a highway to see how you get on". As I was doing the test at Newton test centre, King George Highway was the one I concentrated on. However, she decided to take me on to Highway 91 going to New Westminster, which is way out of my comfort zone, of where I had been practising.
Things went downhill from that point - my nerves got the better of me, and I started making mistakes - speeding etc. I knew I had failed the test before it finished.
I did not even get the chance to do any of 3 point turns, etc.
The upshot is they have taken my UK license off me and gave me a provisional.
Is it any easier second time round ?

How can you fail a Canadian driving test, it's a walk in the park compared to the UK one???

That is matter of opinion.
I thought I had prepared enough, but my examiner has different ideas.

If you are nervous why don't you get an instructor to take you out for an hour and cover all the possible test routes. It won't improve your driving but if it helps you not be nervous you will drive better anyway.

That sucks but I'm sure next time you'll get it no problem especially as you already passed your UK test. (I started learning to drive a few months ago I'll probably be ready for the test in mid-January I just hope I can keep the nerves under control

I don't mean to sound callous, but if driving on unfamiliar roads makes your concentration evaporate and takes you out of your comfort zone, then I think its just as well you are not going to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public just yet.
What astounds me is the driving wrecks on "Canada's Worst Driver" managed to pass the test...What on earth were the examiners in those cases thinking.
Better luck next time.

Thanks for all the support - After sleeping on it, I think I will take the test again in a few weeks, when I am a bit more prepared.
I think one of my issues was choice of driving school, so I am going to change to a new one.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good driving instructor in Surrey, BC ?
