Re: Diet
900 calories a day is extremely low and shouldn't be maintained for long - you will start to lose muscle mass, potentially develop gastrointestinal issues or gallstones and possibly create heart issues too.. your lipid levels may increase. You feel cold because you aren't getting enough calories to maintain your body. I suggest you talk to your GP.

I know your Nan (God rest her soul) would probably have sent you a big Toblerone or giant bar of Galaxy for Christmas so get yourself down to the local shop and have a good old chocco-binge on Nan.

Re: Diet
I did something called OMAD (One Meal A Day) in 2018 and lost 40lbs in 20 weeks with zero exercise.
Now I am doing OMAD again everyday, not to lose weight, but just because it is so easy not to worry about what to eat for breakfast, or what to pack for lunch. I drink tea, coffee and water until 5pm ish then eat a big dinner. Basically 7 big meals per week instead of 21.

i do try intermittent fasting every now and again and I can go 12 hours without food but when it gets to 5-6pm I’m staving and will eat everything in sight.
in regards to giving up things. I only buy almond milk now and find drinking regular milk gives me acid reflex and/or stomach issues. I did try to go plant based with yoghurt and cheese but the former was getting expensive and the latter tastes like plastic rubber! I’m mostly given up pork and beef except I will occasionally have a steak and some sausages but rarely. Fish and chicken are eaten maybe 2-4 times a week and I’ll make vegan mango curry every week and a half in my instant pot

I eat a lot more red meat in Canada than I did before. Pork mainly. I think my husband has metamorphosed into Homer Simpson since we’ve been here! He asks for roast pork on Sundays and grilled chops twice a week probably! We do eat salmon quite a bit but it’s not cheap...I pay more for Canadian Salmon here than I did in France I try to eat well, and we do mainly...but it takes more effort in NB. It would me much easier in Quebec...nice supermarkets, good food
I used to live on salads and vegetables, but I find them frankly tasteless here. Tomatoes might as well be made of plastic for all the taste that they have.

Re: Diet
I can't fast at all, the hunger pains become too annoying, I get a headache, and have even fainted before from not eating and trying to work, I don't eat a ton in a day though, something in the morning, a snack or 2, and maybe dinner, but usually a snack, not big on eating meals, prefer grazing through the day as needed.

Re: Diet
A combination of intermittent fasting / KETO (strict/dirty) yields good results also. Lets not forget that if you're very active i.e. run / weights, you will lose weight faster

Re: Diet
On the other extreme from the plant based, we had a couple of women buy 20 dozen duck eggs from us and they ate only animal products - no plants at all. No fruits, no vegetables, no beans, no grains - nothing but animal products. They claimed that there was a significant scientific basis behind why this is good which basically proves that you can find a scientific study to prove pretty much anything you want.

Re: Diet
Something that we have noticed straight away after the first week of buying things that we did not consume very much of before is how much less we are spending on grocery bills last two visits.. Meat and cheese are expensive. The oat and pea milk are more expensive vs cows milk per carton but we are consuming much less of it so there is a balancing. I am surprised as I thought that we would have to spend more to do this.

That really is not a lot of calories. I am a 5ft 4 inch small framed woman and I was on 1,000 calories after my son was born, and it was difficult. I lost weight quickly, but felt dreadful.

Have you tried growing your own Tomatos etc?
