Just a quick reminder that the first matches in the PDC World Championship starts tomorrow. There should be some decent streams available.

When I started playing my favourite pro was Leighton Rees, the first ever champion. News of The World Final was the big match then.

I don't have one actually, but found the '79 match Lowe v Rees on youtube, that brought a few things back.

In his book Leighton Rees On Darts which I borrowed from the library several times he addressed pre-game stress management. He said the men liked to drink beer and the female competitors favoured a valium an hour or so before playing. He said (I crudely paraphrase) "The Japanese team had brought a Zen Darts Master who had them chanting and imagining as they shot not the face of the board but thinking of the point beyond they board, while thinking of the number they needed." "All I can say is a couple of pints does the same for me and we beat them quite handily."

That young German kid that knocked out King looks a good prospect. Wonder if foreign girl knows him

MVG - Down's syndrome perhaps? I suppose that is offensive to Down's syndrome sufferers. Apologies!
