Cricket World Cup

Re: Cricket World Cup
Wow. Just read the match reports. That is embarrassing for the England team. To be on the wrong side of that many world cup records, and to have been in serious danger of losing the match before tea, is an utterly abject performance.
Suddenly Scotland and Bangladesh don't look like foregone conclusions. Sri Lanka may be a real struggle. We should do OK against the Afghans, but by my reckoning, if even one of those games is lost to weather and England drop a point for an abandonment, they'll need to win every other game to get out of the group. Oh dear.

The most one sided match between test nations I can remember.

Re: Cricket World Cup
I wish the English public would stop going to the home games as protest. Unless we do that, there's no incentive for the ECB to change the culture of mediocrity. We have a population of 58 million, plus half of Southern African to choose from ffs, you'd think we could best a bunch of part timers from a glorified sheep farm.

I've completely lost touch with cricket.
That's the kind of result where the players should have their match fee cancelled. But what if they are actually pretty good but New Zealand so much better and they were simply beaten by a better team after fighting gamely?

Re: Cricket World Cup
It is a pity Canada didn't qualify this time. They could have given England a good game.

As a son of Yorkshire, I read that & thought "is our skipper (Andrew Gale) playing in the IPL while banned from county matches ?"
Now Christopher Henry Gayle is a different kettle of fish altogether. For a start he's "the coolest man in Cricket"
