Hi Amy - I have bought creme fraiche in Calgary at Community Healthfood store - not sure if you have an equivalent store where you are. Haven't bought it for a while though as I find it's pretty easy to make a good substitute ... lightly whisk together 1 cup whipping cream with 1 cup sour cream (must be regular not non or low fat)... let it sit for 24 hours at room temperature covered, then put in the fridge (covered) for at least four hours to chill....
Alternatively I have also seen it in Superstore (Loblaws) but I think it was called something like triple/treble cream or something?
Best of luck! J

I've put a block of cream cheese into soups before now too - yummy! Shove it all the blender before back in the pan to re-heat.

Pete's Fruitique sells Creme Fraiche but its about $12 a tub. There was a thread on here about it before and I'm not sure if I read someone adds icing sugar to sour cream????
