I could not find much on at home tests, I did find one you can do at home, but then need to send off the sample to get tested, and its $250 bucks or 2 for $399 at Rexall, so rather steep, I would rather just do it free at a testing site myself.

It's also not fully self test, you do it with a webcam with someone supervising you.

Found some articles from May about Canada being slow to approve at home tests when compared to other countries, could also be due to a small market overall some companies may simply not want to spend time and resources on Canadian approval

US currently lists Canada as a level 2 moderate risk on a scale of 1 to 4.

Are the 'cases' being reported people who have tested positive but that don't necessarily have symptoms or are they people in hospital / really ill? Big difference between the 2 scenarios.

Considering the population difference that isn't too bad, BC yesterday (today's haven't been released) was 689 and 2 deaths, but we have like 9 million less people.

An independent modelling group made up of experts from the University of B.C., Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria did their own modelling and if even 50% accurate, it wont be a pleasent fall.

I guess the one upside is if fully vaccinated still fairly low chance of ending up in hospital or dead or even showing symptoms to a point you get tested, but there is still a chance even if smaller.

This seems to be the most recent chart from August 14 weekly data dump, but its still almost a month out of date.

The Central Okanagan restrictions are being expanded to include the entire interior region effective midnight.

Indoor personal gatherings will be limited to one other household, or five guests, and indoor and outdoor gatherings will have a 50 person limit.

transmission is primarily happening in areas with lower vaccination rates, especially those with 0 vaccine.

Interior has a lower than average vaccination rate, Interior overall is at 77 per cent with 1 dose and 68% with double dose.

Some of the lowest areas for vaccination are Creston at 65% with 1 dose, and Nelson at 72% with 1 dose.

Step 4 of reopening likely delayed until further notice.

Dropping the mask mandate was really a mistake, they should have kept masks mandatory.

It's sad to see people in other poorer countries not being able to get a vaccine, yet in 1st world countries there a people turning their nose up at it due to reading some shit on Facebook.
These fools are the people that are causing us to take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Really pisses me off.

Would this really have made any real difference though? I am still unsure just how effective mask mandates are. I mean we know people are not wearing them in private settings where people were allowed to mix in greater numbers, we have seen the pictures of party boats full of young people doing what young party people do and we have seen the relaxing of restrictions on numbers of people allowed indoor dining, coffee shops and pubs. If i go to a local coffee shop as i did today i can now clearly see more tables inside and less space between them. I can also see people sitting talking, drinking and eating without mask of course yet the rules are that i have to put one on to walk from door to counter where there is a large screen between me and employee. It may have made more sense when less people were allowed to sit in. Then there are the large stores with ample space for most of us to keep our distance and do our thing. I am pretty sure we didn't have any mass transmissions from Home Depot or Save On foods for example when the mandate was dropped. Yet since reinstating it we have seen continued increased cases. Busy planes, trains and buses perhaps.

Ontario…the Covid numbers seem to be growing fast. 722 new cases yesterday. There are now almost 5K active cases across Ontario.

The non vaccinated will soon learn what they will no longer be allowed to do in BC, in about an hour the province is set to announce proof of vaccination requirements for certain non-essential services.

Exemptions for those who are not eligible to be vaccinated will be made, as well as those unable to be vaccinated due to medical issue.

Ontario’s figures are down today to 639.

My feelings exactly. I just hope they don’t close schools down again. A large majority of the positive cases have been double vaccinated, therefore, hopefully it is a mild infection.

Do you have a source for this information as if true, Ontario is the complete opposite of BC.

Unvaccinated people currently account for about 90 per cent of COVID-19 cases in B.C., and 93 per cent of hospitalizations. The risk of infection is about 10 times higher for people who aren't vaccinated
