Of course they didn't say anything helpful like when, just some in a couple of weeks and a larger shipment to follow "some time" in June. I see there are now concerns about the clotting issue because the rate has increased from one in 100,000 to one in 60,000. When the clotting issue was first in the news the reports were all about it being more of a concern for younger people but still low risk. Then, because of an apparent reluctance to take it, some provinces started dishing it out to younger people. For example in NB they gave it to anyone 55 and up who turned up, this at a time when you had to be over 75 or health reasons. Did Jsmth say something similar for BC? It all seems a bit odd to say it's very low risk (compared to covid risk) and not quite as low risk for younger people, then give it to younger people (though not that young) and then be surprised that the rate goes up a bit. One in 60k from one in 100k is 5 in 300,000 compared to 3. |

Re: Coronavirus
What is the latest on second doses in Ontario? I have a tentative appt for my 1st dose (I am a little hesitant about long term side effects, 100% I will not take AZ or J&J but Pfizer/Moderna I am open to taking, although I am still anxious to be honest.) - is the timeline still 4+ months before the second dose is delivered?
Wondering about potentially receiving dose 1 here and dose 2 abroad...anyone have experience with that? |

Wondering about potentially receiving dose 1 here and dose 2 abroad...anyone have experience with that? Otherwise I'd assume it's entirely plausible. I've had dose 1 of AZ. If there isn't a second dose that's fine- if we're still dealing with covid in 6 months and a vaccine is needed to travel I'll try one of the others. The reality is Ontario is a disaster. We're locked down now by government incompetence only. The UK have run a successful vaccination program using primarily Astra Zeneca and yet it is some how a problem here? Ontario needs an overhaul of its health system starting with Dr Williams right down to what they teach in medical school. Its second rate, not good enough and really the damage to an already poor economy is unacceptable. |
Re: Coronavirus
50% of the population 18+ in BC have had at least 1 dose of vaccine.

Re: Coronavirus
Saskatchewan has donated 100 ventilators worth about $3.5 million to India, and Air Canada is donating the freight. We still have 600 in reserve just in case. Hopefully they're able to put them to use right away.

A drop in the ocean. India's population is close to 1.4 billion people it would be like someone donating 2 ventilators to Canada for scale.

True, but Saskatchewan can't provide enough for 1.4 billion people nor could Canada, and every little bit helps if other countries are doing the same. |

Both myself and my wife have now had first jabs of Pfizer (due to our ages). We are in Ontario. Mine on 28 April, hers on 10 May. When we had our first, they automatically gave us appointments for the second jab. Both are about 3.5 months from the first jab.

It's a shame Canada can't make a meaningful contribution but we need most of the covid resources here because our mess is not so far behind India's. I find it hypocritical that we are trying to help them. Your province is probably run much better than mine. |
