Default Collingwood

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay in the Collingwood/Blue Mountains area?

Have some friends coming over from UK and they want to stay overnight somewhere in that area while they're here but I don't know where to suggest...we stayed at the Blue Mountain Inn a couple of years ago which wasn't a good experience...so has anyone any ideas?

Agreed....The Blue Mountain Resort is not good! We stayed there two years ago and there was construction everywhere and the prices didn't account for that. On top of that, you were charged for everything you touched. The construction may have been completed by now, but I can definitely say it is not good value. Great for a day trip if you are staying elsewhere but that is about it unless you want a hostel for skiing.

There are plenty of nice chalets and B&Bs all around the resort which can have very good views of Georgian Bay with the mountain behind. Take a look at the Tyrolean Village. I would even consider one of the smaller less commercialised villages in the surrounding areas such as Thornbury and Meadford. These were much nicer. Collingwood is basically a sprawling mess which is probably ideal for a ski base camp but not good for summer visitors although the bay and the trail that runs along it is worth a bike ride.

This link - if you've not already got it - might be helpful:
