Default Cold mouse hand

Does anyone suffer with a cold mouse hand in winter? The rest of me is fine, it's just that hand.

I've heard you can get a heated mouse. Are they any good? Any other solutions that don't involve drinking coffee all day?

Thin glove?

There are so many rude replies to this...I'll just sit and wait though.

Seriously, I'm bloody freezing all over this winter.

A heated mouse would be lovely. More lovely, would be my work turning the heating on. I'm bloody freezing and have been for days. It's warmer outside.

Grumble grumble moan whinge.

Do you use a hard plastic wrist rest for your mouse hand?

It's possible you're cutting off part of the circulation to that hand.

Where is your mouse located? It could just be a problem with overstretching.

I spend most of my day on a computer.

I used to get horrible back/neck ache, along with wrist ache.* I cured all three problems almost immediately by fixing my desk so that the mouse could fit next to the keyboard, and by lifting my monitor up a few inches.

<*Bit of a gift, that one. But no.>

Friday competition. Have a few beers and try repeating that ten times over.

WRULD.

Try moving the mouse so it's in front of you not to one side.

Also adjust your position, get a better designed mouse, get a better seat/desk combo. Let ergonomics be your master.

No...just a basic Staples mat.

Keyboard right in front of me, mouse just to the side. My upper arm is against my body so no reaching, just the spreading out of the fingers around the mouse.

Might be worth a go. Not sure about the keyboard being further away.

The mouse hand still gets cold.

Even now, I'm perfectly warm but the fingers aren't.

You can get impingement syndrome in the shoulder from having the mouse out to the side, also if your hand is below elbow level. Carpal tunnel could be another reason which would be the mouse size and not keeping your wrist and back of the hand at the same level. So you need to make some adjustments to make sure this is sorted out. Or ask a physio for advice. I love physios.

This happens to me too, though never worked out why. No help i'm afraid just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

If you manage to sort it, I would love to know how, good luck!!

Top Tip #1

Why have a cold mouse hand, when you can use a presentation style device, and put your hand holding the device in a pocket. (The pocket must be a fairly big one to allow for movement) Wallah, a warm hand and computer functionality.
