Which coffee do you drink at home?

My wife drinks pretty much anything, whatever happens to be on sale but for some reason likes Maxwell house the best. She doesn't buy their beans for home, but she is quite fond of a local coffee shop that uses Moja beans.
Myself, I have to load up the sugar and cream to make it drinkable.
I can tolerate some brands and some no matter how much sugar and cream there is,it's just gross. Looking at you Starbucks, Tim's and Maxwell House.
We use some unknown brand in the rooms at the hotel, just says coffee on the pack and the company who distributes it. It's the cheapest the amenity company has, comes to 0.53 cents per package.
A name brand coffee will run 1 or 2 dollars per pack depending on brand.

PC ground west coast dark roast when it's around $8 for the big tin so I usually have the next new one ready when needed.
Occasionally I may not have been able to get there while it's $8 and because I get it for that price so often, I don't feel like paying $13 when it's not on sale, so I'll buy the No Name version. It just needs a little more to get pretty much the same taste.

I am a little ashamed at moving from the dark roast to the great Canadian. But can't fight the tastebuds. Maybe I should grind less?
Sharkus- I wish I had one of those grind to cup machines, might persuade me to drink the good stuff in the week. Then I could carry a little pot with me to work and be truly Canadian.

It would be nice to have some of the good instants available in the UK like Carte Noire, Alta Rica. Even Nescafe's Gold Blend wasn't bad.

PC west coast dark roast beans for the filter machine or a cafetiere. The espresso machine usually has something like Illy or Lavazza, and occasionally the PC espresso blend, really whatever's available as whole beans (our Loblaws seems to have a difficulty with whole bean espresso roast - they stock bucketloads of pre-ground.) Never mind any difference in taste, there's something about the ritual of grinding the coffee and tamping it into the holder that appeals.

I dunno. I buy the ground version and just stick it in the filter basket. It makes a good cup, sometimes great when either the balance (or mood?) is just right.

Talking of machines. Which machines, methods do you use at home? I have a Tassimo, prefer the Nespresso but think I should get something more economical. Usually when I've had coffee from those drip machines it has a background taste that isn't coffee. Maybe dirty machines?
I have a cafetiere for multiple cups but wonder if there's anything better to chose

I must say I think Kirkland (Costco's own brand) is one of the best tasting and reasonably priced, we used to have it at work too.... now they have changed it to Maa Parker's and that has got to be the most disgusting dishwateresque coffee I have ever tasted in my entire life! Its the insult to coffee as Corrs Lite is to beer!!

I use a drip machine. Cost $11 from Walmart way back last year. At that price I would just get a new one if it starts to taste funny from a build up of something.

If you don't want the expense of a decent espresso machine, one of the best products for home is from Technivorm (Products - Technivorm). It is one of the few drip coffee makers certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America to brew at optimal temperatures. Run vinegar through a drip machine and keep it clean, and there shouldn't be any weird taste.

RICH. The Technivorm is a lovely looking machine but way out of my price range sadly.
Bristol and JSmith, maybe a cheap drip is the way to go but I'm still unsure. My cafetiere is a Bodum insulated one but it still doesn't keep it warm for long.

I have a black & decker drip machine; it was what Canadian Tire had on sale that week... cost about $30 as I recall. And a separate $15 grinder which happened to be B&D too.
The feature I like and would look for is the "steal a cup"- basically there's a wee valve in the bottom of the basket-holder, so you can pull the jug out for the first cup while the rest is still brewing, without it dribbling coffee all over the hot plate.
