So what? To launch in a new, even a neighboring, country is hugely expensive. Think of all the brochure re-prints (dual languages), different legislation issues, parts supply logistics, legal implications for warranties etc.

I spent 7yrs supplying digital marketing solutions to Ford/Premier Automotive Group in the UK, and the waste of money spent chasing poorly determined brand objectives was astounding.

That's interesting Novo - I can see the logic of something like that for city commuting. Doubt it would make it to the top of some of the hills round here though. I'd want a little more power than is on offer.

Brabus have recently tweaked Tesla's vehicle, which apparently makes it even more interesting to drive.

Plans have not been shelved, the Scion line-up will be introduced in Canada later this year.

From the Club Toyota magazine sent to all new Toyota purchasers.

Excellent, I knew they had announced it but thought that they had put it on hold with the current economic climate.

I'm seriously considering a 2010 Prius. Any "inside" info on when that's going to be available in Canada, Steve?

Get a diesel Jetta/Golf or Passat, much more environmentally friendly

Fuel efficiency is better in a diesel, yes its still a fossil fuel but the batteries in the Prius are a major issue. Mining the metals to make them, what happens when to them when the Prius is taken off the road?

I'm not saying they aren't eco friendly, just that they aren't as green as they are made out to be...............but then again a Prius is certainly better for the environment than my Explorer

Check out page 18 of the linked magazine in my other posts.

I realise Toyota has their reasons but it's worth a read.

But it's also way out of date. Carbon credits (even if they were available to a private investor in Canada) are much more than the Chicago 2005 market price. Moreover, even that article admits, that the (slightly) higher cost for a hybrid will be mitigated by higher sales numbers.

Disposing of lithium shouldn't pose any big problems either. It's easily recycled. I have heard however that relatively cheaply accessed supplies are quite limited (Souv, this is your field?).
