Christmas Bonus.

Wow. All your jobs suck. I've always received an Xmas bonus. What do you all do for a living?

Have never received a financial bonus nor a gift that I can recall.
Our Director bought everyone in the office a Lindt Advent Calendar, which was unexpected, and a nice gesture. We're a public body - no bonus' for the minions.
Otherwise, we all get five days off, on top of regular bank holidays. Add a couple of vacation days and I'm off for two full weeks, so that's my bonus.

Over the years I've had the odd bonus paid, never very much though. Most of my working life I've been self employed in construction, and one Xmas I hired a topless kissogram girl to pay out the wages, and a bonus, to the 4 or 5 guys I had working for me. After the photos were taken we all went down the pub.
One of the photos made it into the local rag, and the next time I went into the bank to get the wages out the manager came out and asked if I had any jobs going
Happy times.

Besides, I might have been a bit disingenuous. I do get a bonus, and it's usually a decent percent of my salary, however it's paid out at in April after the end of the UK tax year.

Last year we all got a $20 cinema gift card. The year before it was a $15 Starbucks card. The management usually pays for a modest chrimbo dinner as well, sorry, I mean "staff recognition dinner" (public sector official lingo). For most of December the printers and other firms we deal with send a ridiculous amount of baskets of treats.
This year I am on mat leave so I am getting eff all, although I might be allowed a couple of lie-ins over the holiday period if I am a good girl.

A Christmas bonus and a Performance bonus are different things. A turkey, Christmas cake, a company luncheon/dinner, Starbucks card etc, are Christmas bonuses and you and the incompetents will all receive it.
A Performance bonus is just that and hopefully the incompetents do not participate..

I work in the public sector (municipal), and whilst not strictly a 'Christmas bonus', our attendance incentive gets paid at this time of year - $500 for no days sick, $250 =1 day sick, $100 for <=3 days sick.

I would have thought it was illegal to discriminate pay on grounds of health, unless of course it is a tacit acknowledgement that sick leave has little to do with health...?
