I would hope that they are treating him the same way as any other nonce who is released. He's also committed crimes in Vietnam and I believe that it's possible for him to be prosecuted here for those. I hope he is.

He did 5 years over there. Not sure if he will be prosecuted a second time? But they will tell him in a stern voice not to mess with kids. That at least will reassure all living in BC.

He also abused children in Vietnam and given that Canada has sex tourism laws that allow prosecution in Canada for crimes committed overseas it seems plausible that he could be done for it - which he should be really.

He did 5 years in a Thai jail. I was living in Bangkok when he got busted and it was big news. I didn't follow the case, but I *think* his prosecution in Thailand was for crimes committed in Thailand.

Anyhow, I don't think they found the little girl in Wales yet?

They have now said she suffers from cerebral palsy, which is another reason to question why she was out, unsupervised, at taht time when it would have been dark.

Teaching kids about the whole "stranger danger" is a bit misleading to be honest. In nearly all sad cases like this, the kids "knew" the person in some shape or form. That's how they get pulled in. A complete stranger taking a child is extremely rare. (Not to say, of course, that it doesn't happen).

We were dead against getting kids cell phones until that day, but I went straight down to the Bell store, bought a little $20 phone with the cheapest contract and make our kids take it with them whenever they're away from us!!
We put up warning signs around the area, let the police know, and, touch wood, there haven't been any more incidents like that since.

They're not saying that the man they've been questioning did it. The description the girl's playmates gave police of the vehicle she got into doesn't match his vehicle, but they are young and the light was poor. It's likely still pouring rain and they have so many volunteer searchers the authorities are asking that no more come.

No, but if you have the detective in charge of the case holding up the picture on Sky News saying "do you know this man, have you seen this man, did you see him between 7pm Monday and 4pm Tuesday, have you seen his jeep, do you know where he was" and "our ongoing interviews with the man in custody is leading us to search in certain areas".... hmmm.... the only fear is trial by media often leads to acquital..

If this guy did abduct her, he deserves everything they throw at him, if he didn't then he'd be a victim of police desperately trying to find her.

Hopefully someone else has her, and she's inside and unharmed. Does the UK have an Amber Alert system on the highways like we do?
