Alan seriously, I think we have a fair idea how bad torture is, put this into the context its written in.

I guess everybody that has kids and imagines one of them being abducted or harmed can picture themselves "torturing" a suspect in order to find out where their kids are. That's called "loving your children more than anything". Have to agree with ExKiwilass though that under torture suspects will just say anything in order to end the torture.

We used to play in teh dark all the time when we were kids (NZ) on street, unsupervised. It was awesome.

Abduction like this is very, very rare. No consolation to the parents but I don't blame them AT ALL. The only person who should be blamed is the scumbag abductor, along with all scumbag abductors through time. Kids should be able to play outside without being kidnapped. End of.

It's always been like that. Almost all abuse is done by family members or friends.

When a women is raped people are outraged at the suggestion that she might have been asking for it.
A child is kidnapped and people blame the parents for letting it happen.

The other story being forgotten is the father who murdered is own children before taking his own life.

I know, and I'm all for the assumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law and justice for all etc (and I dont agree in principal with any form of torture) but if the police have been looking for this person all day in connection with this and whom they found and had abandoned his vehicle and was arrested walking on the roads.. begs the question of what is more important, the preservation of a life endangered or the assumption of innocence?? Personally, I think its very very sad for everyone involved
