It all seems rather amusing to me to be honest. Ignoring the possibly harm to his kids of course.
It is interesting to see what he's going to come out with next. Part of me does wonder if it's just a big publicity stunt, but I have a feeling it's not, he's just living it very, very large and doesn't care what anyone thinks.
Self-destructive meltdown is one way of seeing it.

Telling the truth about the Vatican like that will bring him to the attention of the Starwackers, and he may have to run away to Vancouver for his own safety, where he will fit right in.

On the other thread there are not so many comments apparently enjoying that individual's suffering but rather a genuine outpouring of concern & support..

I reckon the whole Charlie Sheen publicity stunt is a way to hide the real life impacts on the US away from the American public regarding the crap in the middle east, rising oil prices, employment (or unemployment) showing less than expected, economy still struggling, etc etc.
He'll be "signed" back up to CBS within a couple of weeks on at least $2M per episode and in a few months time all will be back to "normal".
