I once (many years ago, when I was about 12) remarked whilst passing Les Dawson is the street near where he lived in the UK that 'he is as fat as he looks on TV', not realising that because I was wearing and using a Sony Walkman at the time, that I said it loudly. Very loudly!

Another rather strange one was meeting and chatting to Kate Silverton and Phil Packer at Lancaster Services on their way to their Sport Relief 3 Peaks Challenge. Queuing for a pee at the toilets in the petrol station....

My favourite was the cast of Mrs Browns Boys at a pub in Manchester just after their gig. They basically just carried on ad-libing the show....

My big 3 are:

David Bowie - I had afternoon tea with him and his then wife Angie.
Freddie Mercury and Brian May - I served them after hours drinks at the Platform 1 nightclub in Bristol, they leaned on the bar and chatted for a few.
Phil Collins - whilst walking through downtown Hong Kong early in the morning (we smiled, lol)

Met a few minor celebs, know a few fairly well known (in Canada) bands and/or band members.

Edited to say, forgot Bill Oddie (in Singapore outside Raffles)

:)

Diana Dors and George Harrison ( not at the same time)when they stayed at a hotel in my village in Cornwall. Bill Nighy at Manchester Airport.

Michael Keaton, Thom Yorke, Marianne Jean-Baptiste all while working at Starbucks in Toronto, probably a few others without even realising it. 3 or 4 cast members from Rookie Blue and Enrico Colantoni on the TTC.

I met Bill Murray 10 or 12 years ago when he flew on the airline I was with.

Didn't meet him, but walked passed Jimmy Carter when he was on a flight, several secret service were also with him, including one in the flight deck. He flew under a false name if I recall correctly.

Talked to this guy briefly when he stayed at a hotel, I was the night auditor at.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_David_Moore
Have spoken to the guy who is on Bates Motel TV show who plays Norman when he was at the same hotel as the above guy. (They film in BC for Bates Motel.)

Some lady actress as well, forget her name, not an A list actress but people would recognize her face.

I had to break up a fight in the elevator between 2 drunk canucks at the same hotel.

We always had some sort of actors/sports players there, problem is most stay under a fake name, and I would recognize their faces but couldn't pin down who they were.

In a San Diego hotel checked this actor in, he has since passed though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Farina
He was an incredibly nice man when at the hotel.

I think that is it. Work in anything upscale hotel in a large city, and you will meet a few over your time there.

It can be kind of weird because you recognize them, but have to pretend you don't.

Ed Robertson from Bare Naked ladies, said hi to him when he was looking for info on his delayed flight, not my airline though. Wasn't until after someone told me who he was that I even knew, I recognized him, but had no idea from where at the time.

Me and my mate would sometimes tell people we "went to Platform 5 (or whatever number it was) last night" and they'd say "don't you mean Platform 1?"

We'd say, "no, the bar on platform 5 at Temple Meads."

I never went to Platform 1, so I missed you.

Arriving at Montreal airport and standing in the Immigration queue, I noticed Donald Sutherland two places ahead of me. He had a small dog in the pocket of his coat.

I was about to enter an elevator when my daughter pulled me back, "I'm not riding with him". I suppose she feared mass murder in the lift as it was Henry Kissinger.

That would be a fascinating meeting. His boss was the troubling part.

Re: Celebrity sightings.

I stood beside Neve Campbell at Pearson when I was about 12. Not sure it counts as "meeting", but at the time I was big into the Scream movies, so I thought it was super cool, even though we didn't exchange any words.

I went to a load of tapings for "The Apprentice: You're Fired" including one Finale episode, so I got to see Dara O'Brien, Lord Sugar, Karren Brady, and Nick Hewer a few times. Again, no meeting, but it was pretty cool to get to go, especially for the finale!

I did meet George Strombolopolous a few years ago, as well as Dan Levy (son of Eugene Levy) at a youth leadership conference I used to be involved with.

And I've seen Donovan Bailey around Oakville but he's a massive d*ck so never actually spoke to him as he doesn't have time for any of that nonsense.

Re: Celebrity sightings.

I was once in St Thomas's Hospital in London, following an operation, at the same time Matthew Kelly was in there with a broken leg. I had to trundle a drip around with me so I wasn't the strongest or had both hands free at any one time. Anyway, I went through some of those double swing doors and saw someone in a wheelchair coming down the corridor. They had their hands full of wheels, so to help I rather feebly held the door open for them. You can guess what happened next. The door slipped from my grasp, the leg made it through before it swung shut, but the wheelchair and Matthew Kelly didn't.

The conversation was, initially at least, brief. But then, to his credit, seeing my state, and the fact I'd made the effort in the first place, he saw the funny side. I can't say we became firm friends, but I at least got to meet him!

I saw Owen Wilson in Coal Harbour the other day.

When I was younger I met (and spoke to): Dannii Minogue, Paul King (MTV VJ), Jimmy Sommerville, Pet Shop Boys, some others that I've now forgotten.

Also lots of tennis players who then weren't famous and were playing in small, 'satellite' tournaments, but are a bit bigger now.

I'm never very good at recognizing celebs, I know that I knwcthe face but never know where from do I say hello anyway. They usually smile then whoever I was with would tell me " me that was so and so."

Otherwise, in the course of work I've xrayed a fair few Hollywood and or TV stars, rock stars, politicians, royalty, opera singers, authors, sports people, titled gits etc.

I know, especially now. There's quite a few in my building and they seem pretty pissed off I don't say anything, but I don't go to the pictures or watch those dreadful American reality shows where they're looking for gold or chopping down trees.

I've met (and spent more than one evening drinking with) David Bellamy, the British TV botanist. He was invited to be the keynote speaker a a botanical meeting in New Brunswick, and seemed to enjoy spending his off time with OH and I.

I saw John Diefenbaker in the early 1970s in the baggage pick-up area of the airport in Saskatchewan

I worked with David Tarrant, the Canadian TV Gardener, for over 30 years

Are you sure its not the Fish Counter?

Lately I've been making blackened salmon tacos with pico de gallo and avocado on a warmed wholewheat tortilla. Two for about 50 cents. :)
