I think this is wilfull bubble living. I have a television but it's not connected to any sort of service, it can only play DVDs. I don't trouble with the local rags so I never really know when iced hockey peters outs and the Superbowl leaguey thing starts but even I've seen The Sopranos and The Wire. I know who Phil and Kirstie were and who Charlie Sheen is. Surely even the minimal communication with the natives requires passing acquaintance with the cultural icons of the age.

How can you live without knowing Tony's reaction to the proposal that he have a prostrate exam?

Manfred von Richtofen got a lot of his kills on poorly defended observer aircraft but they all counted. I think it demonstrates the innate worthlesness of 'points'. But then again I don't care. If some miracle killed my spoiler I'd feel responsible, I'm supposed to use these powers for good. In some cases this is black humour, satire, and a memorial, all depends who the celebrity is. Whatever you want to make of it.

Are these picks? Not to be picky but you need five and to specify one as a joker. Also which of Gaddaffi's sons do you mean? I'm fairly sure that he has more than one...

RIP Mick Aston off Time Team, you know the prof with the wild white hair and the dodgy hand knitted jumpers. Only 66.

Oh I say, that's a little unsporting. Choosing minor celebrities with acknowledged terminal diseases is a little like pickling your conkers in vinegar, don't you think? Not strictly against the rules, but not quite the done thing...

Unsporting? It's a death pool.

As for "minor", if the BBC reports his death, and it is in itself an unremarkable death, then he's as much a celebrity as any other reported dead person.

Bernadette Nolan, which is sad as she doesn't seem to have done anyone any harm.
