A statistician writes: 3/8 of DBD's picks have kicked the bucket this year... I'm beginning to wonder if he's

a) taking this too seriously
b) has a hand in their timely's...

Ahem.

Though I won't enjoy collecting his points as much as I did for my previous croaker.

I added Phillip this year and dropped Hef; he just married another 26 year old sex kitten - I should be so healthy..

Rather a lazy pic, he's almost worth negative points.

At the moment I have no points of either sign. I just hope Prettyflowers can find some devious way of nullifying your progress throughout the competition.

Don't forget what happened last year.

I suppose I have forgotten. No matter, there are always new decedents.

Donna Hartley

Maybe former athletes are worth looking at.

If you wanted a British runner you'd still have to find a famous one. Liddell and Abrahams of Chariots of Fire are both dead, leaving only Roger Bannister, known worldwide as the man who broke the 4 minute mile. He's in the right age group!

Re: Celebrity Croakers Thread 2013

I was thinking more along the lines of well known names from past Olympic/Commonwealth games who would be remembered.

Donna Hartley was pretty well known and there are plenty older and quite well known who were competing at the same time or earlier.

I think qualifying names are those announced by the BBC and unless they have to be those that make the main page, this might be an untapped market.

Especially those whose physique was an advantage when competing but may not be now. :(

Re: Celebrity Croakers Thread 2013

It's just my opinion, but that's not fame, just a lesser degree of obscurity. Former track and field bronze medalists would have to get caught doping or commit a murder to get famous. Now gold medalists are somewhat memorable. Nadia Komenic, she's famous, Ben Johnson, (big cheat), is famous, even his sleazy doctor Jamie Astaphan (sp) is famous, but only for getting caught. If all you expats knew who Donna Hartley was that's fine, it's just we never heard of her here.

There are an awful lot of "famous" Canadians unheard of outside Canada.

But just a few names from the age I mentioned: David Bedford, Allan Wells, David Bryant, Geoff Capes......

A lot of Brits will know them....and this is BE of course.
