Then you either came from a funny place or you misremember. Google Hunter's name with Chopper and do the same with Harris and Chopper.
In fact if you google Norman Hunter and Chopper, all the results mentioning chopper are for Chopper Harris because Hunter was Bite your legs which, strangely, appears to surprise you.

Sports comentators likewise referred to him in a similar fashion. Never heard of him, by anyone, referred to as "chopper,".

We had a wood- and metalwork teacher at school who was called Ron Harris. He had been there for years by the time I was at the school, and always known as Chopper, even though it was a good few years after "the other Ron Harris" had finished playing top flight football (although I think he still turned out for a lower-division team, we still saw his name in the papers every now and then...). In my naivete I assumed his nickname was because he had access to all the sharp chopping tools in the workshop, it wasn't til I was in the sixth form that the penny dropped about his more famous namesake!

Roy Horn died from COVID complications, was 75. Was the Roy half of Siegfried & Roy in Las Vegas for many years with their white tigers.
