Hey guys,
Is anybody planning on going to a pub in Calgary which will be showing the Carling Cup final on the 28th February 2010, the kick-off is at 8am MST. It's Aston Villa vs Manchester United, there have to be some Villa or United fans wanting to watch this.
The only place I know that will be open at 8am on the dot will be the Ship and Anchor on 17th Ave. The only problem is they wont be serving booze until 10amm they are doing a half time full English though lol.
Thanks,
Mike

That might be a good thing! They do a good English breakfast, but get absolutely jam packed!
Lots of glory hunter muppets will be there though

There's a couple of others, but they are all mostly close to down town. Limericks on Macleod might be showing the game though.
Let's hope United play better than they did yesterday!

The game is being shown on Setanta, you can get the channel on Shaw but you need to call and subscribe. I think it's $15 for a month and I'm sure you can cancel anytime by giving 30 days notice.
As for the drinking at 8am thing. I would prefer not drinking at 8am but the game is on at 8am in Canada and drinking with football is a British tradition (especially on a Cup Final day). It can't be helped though as the licensing laws in Alberta seem to only allow for a certain number of early licenses for a pub per year and there isn't a pub in Calgary that would use one for a football match.

I only cancel it in between June and the middle of August. I thought the OP was price conscious.
I tell this for nothing, its false economy to go to a bar to watch a game. I went to see England once instead of paying for the pay-per-view and ended up spending $80 on booze and food.
