i had a great experience with National at Gatwick recently i hired a Passat for 2 weeks for $300..they took a deposit for the car which was refunded when i returned it..they also refunded the $300 hire cost..so got the car for free

Pics of car when u pick up and before you drop it off. And yes as above ON license is fine for UK rental. I told them I also wanted a standard too.

I just looked this up since we'll be traveling to the UK next month, and I don't think you can purchase this if you are a resident of Canada. It clearly states in the exclusions that Policyholders who are not residents of a European Economic Area country are not covered.

From their FAQs:

To purchase insurance4carhire policies you must be resident in one of the EEA countries.

EEA Country list: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK.
