Did the Turks get bored with Ankara?

It was the capital though and at least they didn't call it Constantinople! ;)

If you want seriously ballsed-up journalism, try this one for size.

Four fifths? Try about 8%, mate. And please try to make a distinction between reserves and inferred resources.
At that rate of production, Rwanda was supplying not just the world but several neighbouring planetary systems.
Africa, in total, provided about a third of world supply in 2008. A lot of that was from perfectly legitimate operations.
Just the three processors, is it. I'm sure the other 30 or so would be surprised to hear that.
If you're going to name three processors, at least try to get one of the names right. And some facts. It might help you to avoid being sued for libel. One of those companies is very, very clear about where it gets its materials (Australia - usually the world's largest source, by the way - Canada and Mozambique). It will not buy anything from Central Africa. The other two are equally ethical.
It is true that some processors are less upstanding. Everyone in the industry knows where the dodgy stuff goes, and it ain't the West.

Unfortunately, this pillock isn't the only one to keep repeating these urban myths. Drivel like this comes out almost daily. It got worse when Hilary Clinton visited the Congo. I have heard a rumour that Oprah is going to pick up on it. That will not help anyone.

Many people would get those questions wrong.

Or Byzantium....

It's never been the capital of Turkey. I thought that Ataturk chose Ankara as the capital as part of moving away from the Ottoman past.
