Canadian supermarkets

Re: Canadian supermarkets
Just had a look on Google Earth, the only meaningful difference is that the one in Calgary has a covered loading dock, because of the weather presumably. The parking lot in Kelowna is a teeny bit smaller because of a passing road.

Median age in Kelowna is 43 according to Kelowna city hall data.
Not exactly twice the age of Calgary.

Re: Canadian supermarkets
The Super Valu in Oliver's always been expensive despite being a Loblaws store and I blame it on greed. They know seniors aren't likely to travel to shop unless they have help. I bought some stuff at No Frills in Trail (Montrose actually) before I came and might either go back to visit and do it again or make a quick trip to Penticton just for fun and get some groceries at the same time. The savings are small but if I'm going anyway I'll do it. I discovered over 20 years ago that I could buy a case of apples at Safeway in Regina for less than at Super Valu in Oliver, and those apples come from the packing house right behind Super Valu!

But there is no competition, we have 3 stores and 2 of the 3 are owned by Jimmy Pattison's company.
