Canadian Content Rule

That's a bit harsh on Radio 1, innit? Newsbeat offers a succinct summation of the day's news delivered in a style that is both pithy and informative. I suggest that it's a better source of news than is offered by the Canadian broadcast media.
Comparing directly to Canadian radio, and my example here is 103.5 as I haven't heard 102.1 for a decade, Newsbeat is superior as it delivers just the facts, it's short and so has no space for the political and religious views blended into the Canadian reportage.

I agree, Newseat is good, and I like it's unbiased style. I think Canadian stations are doing their listeners a dis-service by not having a good news bulletin. It suggests Canadian people aren't interested enough to warrant it. Maybe that's true. There's always a hockey update though.

Now there is something that will drive you to the LCBO.
In BC there are private liquor stores as well as the government ones. The private stores are generally more expensive but they do sell cold beer and wine which most of the government stores don't.
Junior tells me the private stores are not as strict in enforcing the no minor rules.
South of the border you can buy booze anywhere. I'm not sure how easy it is for minors to buy beer from gas stations and so on, but the supermarkets in Washington State are very strict in asking for ID . It was the same in California 30 years ago. I was 22 then but no one - in bars, hotels or liquor stores would sell me alcohol without first seeing my passport.

Locally here in San Diego where I am currently the State and County agencies take selling to minors seriously and they will revoke a liquor license, fine the store and clerk who sold it and possibly criminal charges.
The Sheriff sets up stings where they send in minors into stores to see if the minors are sold booze, dont wanna be the one who sold a minor booze, your in serious trouble if caught.
My hotel we card everyone no exceptions.
