Canada from G8 to G20 to nobody

Many times on here I’ve referred to us being a G8 nation, this report puts an interesting spin on the whole idea…
“If there were a clean slate and a calculus made as to the most important eight countries, Canada would not be in the room. Forbes magazine has advocated reconstituting the G8, dropping Canada and Italy, and adding India and China”
It goes further to suggest “If objective criteria were used to select the 20 most important countries in the world, Canada would probably not make the cut”
So is Canada really just another small (politically), reasonably well off country that in the world is rather irrelevant
One that in the future will just be another country that gets told by the big few what to do, or given how much control our southern neighbour has, are we already there!!

From what I hear though Canada's the star of the show right now - what with having banks that aren't billions in the red - so not completely irrelevant no.
