On Canada day, (or however long before it needs to dry) smoke it.

Order sushi.

Done.

Rubbish.

Today, collected 17 doz hot dog rolls & one slab cake. Tomorrow, takes to beach & cooks hot dogs, provided by someone else. Does not eat slab cake. Enough said.

Hubby & SIL taking beer. The buggers.
Cheers.

Just look in your local newspaper. Every nearby community has a series of events so just take your pick.

We'll probably go to Bath for Fireman's Breakfast and parade at noon then Napanee for fireworks in the evening.

Er, didn't you forget in that list that you must make sure you are wearing your formal Birkenstocks and hiking socks for the festivities.

They may not be on the forum as they are all tinkering with the pick up trucks that rarely get dirty.

I called into a local store on the way home (it's a rural convenience store with a liquor license). There must have been 2 tonnes of beer (over and above what they normally have on the shelves) piled up in stacks on the floor.

I said to the assistance "That's a rather large quantity of beer boxes you have, is there something special happening this week?"

She put a really serious face on and stared at me in a really odd way - I got the feeling she thought I was some sort of escapee (although I've known her for years). She then looked at the other assistant, looked back at me, repeated the head movements and said nothing.

Anyway, I paid for the stuff I went there to buy and said, again, "That's a lot of alcohol, are you sure there's not something special happening this week?"

She replied "Yeah. It's Easter".

I think this answers your question.

I hope you informed her that Easter is held in either March or April. I realise it was a rural place but the level of ignorance in this country astounds me.

I don't like crowds so I think we'll just stick around home and enjoy a cool drink on the deck. :)

Hmmm that sounds awfully like any other day. :p

This evening there is a free outdoor music event down by the river followed by fireworks at 10pm. Tomorrow is the big parade followed by bbq and pool time at our friends and of course, lots of beer. Fireworks tomorrow night too

Apparently they have a pancake breakfast on Granville Island, in Vancouver from 8am to 11am. Bring an umbrella.
