I love tartiflette, can you buy Reblochon in Canada? If so I shall need to track it down!!!
Costco carries Reblochon on and off. We see it there sometimes. My husband is a sucker for Tartiflette. It's one I'd like to make pretty soon, actually... that gives me an idea for a dinner when we come back from the UK. My parents I don't think have ever had it either. I'm pretty sure Starskys will sell it if Costco doesn't have it in stock! Hee!

In combination it sounds very rich, but as the recipe is so simple I think I will give it a try. A bit like Spanish torta.

I have to say Reblochon is not even on my cheesedar so I will need to source some on my next visit to Waitrose. It does look very nice in the Wikipedia photograph.

It kind of melts in your mouth. Well worth the high cholesterol and extra inches around your waist!

I like mild cheese myself (I am not a fan of spices and prefer bland food) and I'd be happy if cheese was just affordable so I cook the dishes I like, but once you gotta buy the cheese they are too damn expensive to make.

Doesn't it come around for $4 or $5 a 500g slab once or twice a month where you are?

It does at Shoppers every few weeks, and I do buy it then. It just adds up with cheese heavy dishes.

I am used to US prices, so will never accept the prices here quietly...

I gave up meat as well. Getting too pricey as well for non-fish which I wont eat since fish is gross....I've switched to mostly dry foods like pasta since its cheaper.

If you enjoy meat just have it in very small quantities. In America or Britain we tend to have a big steak or hamburger, but in Asia meet is generally added to dishes in the same way a few bits of ham might be added to pasta. It's still very enjoyable as a minor part of the dish. for example, a small pork chop isn't expensive, can last several meals and is healthier.

You're right, we eat way too much meat. We only need something like 150gr/6oz per day if not less..
