Hi there, Jamie McDonald is from Gloucester my hometown and is attempting to run from one side of Canada (Atlantic to Pacific) to the other for Charity. Completely unaided and solo with a 30kg backpack.
I have contacted Jamie directly and have invited him to stay with us if he passes through Ottawa. He is such a lovely guy, only 26 and already accomplished a bicycle ride from Bangkok to Gloucester.
PLEASE, if any of you see him or hear about him passing through your towns, could you find it in your hearts to chuck him a banana, or buy him a Timmy's card, or a place to stay for the night (he'll even camp in your garden!) or a small donation to the UK charity or Canadian Charity he is supporting.
I've attached some links to his facebook page to follow him and also a quick film on his previous trips.
This guy is so endearing and modest and doing such a wonderful thing, he's bowled over at the amount of hospitality shown to him so far by ex pats and Canadians and is so humble, you'll love him

Just heard from him, he's in Clarenville, Newfoundland! Anyone nearby?

There was a Canadian bloke who hopped across most of Canada, now that's impressive.

Thanks for that input Oink, just a snippet from Jamie's blog
As a child, Jamie was in and out of Gloucester Royal hospital for nine years with a rare spinal condition known as syringomyelia, as well as a very weak immune system, and the Pied Piper’s help was invaluable. He also spent a great deal of time at Great Ormond Street.
Jamie's just trying to give something back to both UK and Canadian chilren's charities.

How long is he hoping to do it in? If over 6 months then I hope he has a visitor record
Seriously good on him and if Terry Fox inspired him then I hope he makes it.

His latest video he just posted on his Facebook page is a tribute to Terry Fox. Probably gonna take till the end of this year, he's doing all this by himself with no crew.

Just to keep Jamie on the map and so you can see his latest video. He has had some amazing hospitality with the Newfie's and they seem to love him, great video!
