It is obvious that Bazz only approves of articles in the Guardian

I don't think it's a case of relying on the fact that it's in a particular news media, I think it's more that it likely reflects the feelings of the majority of citizens. Whichever newspaper you prefer, from the Times to the Guardian to the Telegraph - they have all carried such reports. The one point I have to agree with the OP on - it's not racist, it's simply common sense.

As I say again I have no objection at all to Immigration. It's not racist to ask that before they enter our country that they at least can speak the language in order for them work & secondly have a skill! Thats not being racist its called having "Common Sense"
First add the person you want to ignore posts from to your buddy list. This will then take you to a menu giving you the option to un-tick a check box as buddy or ignore.
Make your choice then save the setting & that's it basically. I don't really want to open the debate again, but I would just like to add that according to the Goverment department appointed to monitor Brits migrating, it was reported last year that nearly 400,00.00 people left the UK!
I wonder what percentage of that figure left for the very reason I mentioned!
Don't bet on it bazzz.. You will lose!

One expat said "England is a lovely country to visit, but would not like to live there anymore"
SO TRUE

Yes you're right. It's so easy for someone to take the moral highground after running away to Canada, then sit there & criticise others for stating what so many Brit's think, & why they too are trying to make a beter life for themselves.
Yet Bazzz choose's to shout from Canada! If you read this Bazzz.. Seriously PM me if you ever come to the UK & I'll take you to place's here that would litterally make your hair curl!
Maybe even take you into an Inner city area drop you off & see if you with your "Rose Tinted Glasses" saves you & you make it back to get a lift!
I'm sure the locals would just love you

I agee with you Gill England is a lovely country, but it has been poorely managed for years & now that bad management is coming to haunt us all..
Good luck with your French Gill
My point exactly, you are putting the effort in to learn & prepare for your new life
Well done! I'm sure your little 9yr old will benefit no end from your efforts

Cheers
Gill

Ditto to that
wow i can take him to some spots local that he wouldnt make it ou off, lets just say the police stay in there nice big vans when they enter the area
We have just come back from ontario and had a day visit in toronto (now thats a place
) got warned that the area that OH was sitting a test was not fab!!!!
But whilst he was sitting his test, me and the kids walked round, polite, friendly and even chatting to a guy in the park area
Walked and teenagers moved out of our way (uk if we do that we would probably be knifed).
Maybe if england brought in some rules that canada has we wouldnt be in the mess that we are now in, sorry to say bazzz you are so off the mark, but then you jumped on MY thread somewhere else and acted the idiot, shame on vancouver for letting you in, but then there must of been a reason you left your "home" country in the first place.
Don't jump on people for having options on things, if you dont agree go to another post, but then again i wont see your reply as your blocked

Probably living next to his mast has finally fried his cells

I sent the link to this page to a friend I know he is a lecturer on Politic's & English. Basically he sent this back.
You say: Immigrants to the UK should have to learn English and show that the Prime Minister says the same thing.
He says:
1. Immigration should be made easier,
2. You're a "racist bigot",
3. The Daily Express lies
4. Your weak English invalidate your opinions.
But the reality is:
1. You're entitled to your opinion that immigration should be more and not less difficult and to admire the sensible system the Canadians use where newcomers are expected to speak one of the host languages.
2. He's entitled to retain his opinion but by calling you names ('racist bigot') loses the moral highground. His aggression makes it personal.
3. The Daily Express was just one possible news source. His mockery of the paper is snobbery and a diversionary tactic. Your point was that your view was that of our government.
Here are five other recent sources to show that this is actually what the Labour Prime Minister of the UK is calling for right now.

The BBC on UK PM's view that immigrants should learn English:

Telegraph on UK PM's view that immigrants should learn English:

Times Online on UK Communites Secretary, Ruth Kelly's view that immigrants should learn English:

Guardian on UK PM's view that immigrants should learn English:

politics.co.uk on UK PM's view that immigrants should learn English:

To conclude:
It would seem that Bazzz has fallen out with a number of people on the forum
with his self opinionated views. His attitude is the very one that the British Goverment adopted 10 years ago & now look at the state we are in!
But like Bazz they bury their heads in the sand & think the "Magic Fairy" is going sort it all out, or in Bazzz's case they run to Canada!
It's called being gutless, shouting from a distance like you have so many times on this forum then run & hide..
Although I guess most who live in the real world would just say he is a regular A**hole
Show me five credible reference's Bazz that back your view
Oh! I almost forgot. The reason BAZZZ left for Canada Gill, was because he claimed in the last thread that it was..... "Wait for it""Racist Bigots like me" "Yeah Right" I know exactly why you left, What Bazzz is short for, & why you have taken this personally!
I'll wait for your Five credible links
