Have you ever tried them? That was the only reason I decided to give snowboarding a go but, before I became good enough to be able to, I fell over on the way to work and smashed my back to bits. I didn't recover before the end of the season last year. I can't wait to give it a go this year:D
In my wakeboarding days I could do a number of tricks, but that was on water which didn't hurt (too much) when you fell off. Good luck though. I think the trick is to keep a flat board on launch and landing - but the jumps are slippery and hard (oo-er missus) so it can be difficult (well for me anyway - other people don't seem to have much of a problem) |

We go for convenience more than anything else. I like to pop up for a couple of hours in the afternoon or when my friends finish work.
I have my board and medical card all ready to go  5 minutes into last season i broke a rib at the top of Cypress. 5 weeks later, on my 2nd run of the season, i ripped my groin muscle when my old binding broke mid slope. I really hope this season is physically better :fingerscrossed: |

I have a spare board and bindings you can borrow in exchange for a smoked salmon sandwich.

Personally I spent the first few years on a board and found that there was a lot of arse time. After switching to skiing I found that for me, there was a lot less. I count myself as a (bad) skier now. It's faster too

I can ski quite proficiently and I enjoy it, but thought I might as well give snowboarding a whirl to see what all the fuss is about.
Falling on a board hurts way more than falling on skis. I don't believe I have ever managed to fall without hurting myself on a board. |

Helmet, knee-pads, and arse protection are sensible options for those of us who aren't very good... er, I mean, push our abilities to max!
Takes me ages to get ready though, and it's exhausting. Knee supports, wrist supports, back protector, helmet, cod liver oil tablet, and i tend to take a pain killer just before the first run. |
