Brrr its cold today

You'd think after living in Canada forever that I would understand the temperature changes, that at some point the heating needs to go on.
Is it just me feeling the cold, or is it cold enough to put on the heating? When I looked outside at 5am this morning the thermometer showed 5'C (41'F), the inside temperature on the wall thermostat displayed 66'F (19'c). I switched the heating on setting it at 68'F (20'c)
Now. with a sweater on, hopefully I will be able to turn the heating off in a few hours, when [according to the weather channel] the outside temperature will be at 15'c & sunny

Last week AC was needed - sometimes off overnight, others turned on for overnight and other times on most of the day.
Then we had a day where it wasn't needed at all and then the day after I had heating on for a couple of hours and then AC next day.

We've had overnight frost and then AC later in the day.
But these ridiculous extremes are normal.
In the UK, I wouldn't use the central heating before December (although I did have a gas fire) and I initially tried to operate something similar here, but I soon gave up.
Yesterday was my first day in jeans instead of shorts. But I know I've been in shorts at the end of October into November before and I imagine I'll still be able to do so, but we might still need occasional heating at the same time.

I just dug out & put on my slippers (& a cardie)
.
Yesterday evening I closed the windows for the first time since May
.
We've been threatened with frost the last 2 nights but it hasn't happened yet. It's still 19/20 inside, but yes, it feels chilly, especially the floor. Haven't turned the heating on yet, but I may think about wearing socks soon...

Luckily I did not put my shorts away. 18C and cloudless skies across Britain today, and all week. Thank you Gulf Stream!

I haven't figured out what the weather has in plan, one day its warm and sunny and 20C and then today it's cool and cloudy and 15 like today.
Still staying around 10/11 overnight.
Winter tires are now mandatory on the highway, but seems a tad too warm still to rush out and put them on, if we even do, M + S all seasons are acceptable to the province and ours has M + S and with no commuting to Whistler this year, not sure it's worth the 120 dollars to go and switch them out since the winter tires really sucked in the rain.
Still staying 22/23 inside without heat.

Nice and sunny here on Vancouver Island. Just got back from the beach and picked some strawberries and salad vegetables to go along with lunch out on the deck. A bit cooler than it was in August but the leaves are just starting to turn. Don't expect much in the way of frost for at least another month.

Just a blocking High which has drifted up from the Azores. It'll disappear on Monday.

Imagine you live on the planet Tharg.
Life is bad because neither the six legged Blarxx or the seven legged Grixx like you very much because you've only got two legs and they keep trying to glue extra legs onto various parts of what pass for your body.
You decide to leave.
A passing intergalactic people smuggler suggests that for a fee he could take you to a promised land far away and full of milk, honey and a few trees, but you will need to leave quickly because the price will definitely go up the next day. Being a simple minded 'Two Leg' you are easily convinced and tearing those extra legs away from the more important parts of your body you embark on the journey of a lifetime.
One hundred years later, the head Grxuzzch tells you that he has at last managed to get to the top of the CIC helpline queue and has at last managed to get you a dodgy visa. You should buckle up, you're about to be dropped from a safe height into a country called Canada into a province known as Ontario. He hands you a short guide.
You quickly scan through it. Blah Blah Blah.. hot in summer... cold in winter.. inhabitants mostly mad and yes it was true.. everyone has two legs. Wonderful, things couldn't be better!
You land in the hot season. You drink at the best pubs, eat at the best restaurants and generally have the best time of your life. Life is good, very good.
But.. having left pergatory and been accepted in paradise has made you soft. Those far off days when the nothing penetrated that iron exterior were long gone. You had been transformed into a Winging Pomme and at the first onset of the mildly cold season your true nature springs forth.
'AAArrrggghhh' I hear you cry. 'It's bloody cold out there!'
As if by magic, which of course it was, a pamphlet drifts through spacetime to appear in front of you, and there in bold capitals are the words, scanned earlier but instantly forgotten.. "CANADA CAN BE COLD IN WINTER."
'B-but' I hear you say. 'It's not winter yet... I-I want my money back..!'
'Tough Tittee' texts the smuggler from his base on UKUKUK, thinking, 'There's one born every minute. They never listen..'

Any idea what that white stuff is?
We need an update from Missleah in Kindersley, she's probably already gotten the snowsuits and boots out for the kids.
