What were Mr4Bells reasons behind saying no?

I know two ladies who have had this done - but they are both loosely related to the field through their work, so get discounts.

They go for a "top up" about every six months. They have had no issues and they have no movement in their foreheads. ;)

Re: Botox

I've had it done a couple of times, only on the crows feet though. I'm the unlucky one with pretty bad crows feet. They bother me quite a bit so I first had it done in England. Cost about 400 pounds but absolutely loved it. Had it done in Oz and only lasted 2 months. Gave up for a while then tried again but doesn't seem to last very long for me...I have strong muscles according to the doc who did it!! The more you have it done the longer it lasts...or so I'm told. Trouble is I don't follow up with it so I don't know if this is true.

Anyway I would def have it done again but haven't got round to it yet. My daughter gets married next year and my ex husband will be there so will be having it done again as will have to look my best!! :D

I guess I am not shallow enough to consider such things worthwhile, nor have I ever wanted a boob job either. I will grow old gracefully:p

personal opinion and I know I'm probably going to get shot down in flames for it but here goes

sometimes I think that we , as women are our own worst enemy. We complain if people won't take us seriously but we consider injecting ourselves with one of the most toxic substances known as a valid response to getting old

< ducks and waits for the inevitable >

one doesn't tend to inject one self with semen :) At least not for fun :)

Seriously though who decided that injecting botulism toxin into your face was a good idea

I agree. Wrinkles are earned, they should be seen as medals of honour, not something unsightly to be injected away. We live in such incredibly superficial times, where youth and celebrity are worshipped beyond all reason. I really dont get it.

I love my wife, wrinkles and all. Its more than skin deep. Id be really concerned about her state of mind if she wanted to inject her face with botulism for that sake of something so superficial!

These are exactly my thoughts, it's poison, you wait, 30 years from now people will be dying with links to having had botox injections:eek::rofl:

You dont have to wait that long. People already die from botched botox. And botched Lypo. Not to mention all those crippled by leaky silicone implants.

Cheaper and with less packaging, so better for the enviroment.

Re: Botox

I will deviate back to the point in question before nikki comes along and hangs you -

Don't think getting Botox is any more superficial than buying a new pair of killer heels, or anything else for that matter that is anything other than essential for day to day living!

Not angry at anyone for disagreeing - not everything is everyones cup of tea

iaink Feb 18th 2011 3:21 am

Re: Botox

Its a bit more "personally invasive" doncha think?

New shoes may hurt your heels for a bit, but there seems little chance of death as a result, unless you topple off your 6" heels and fall in front of a bus, so I respectfully disagree.

Botox is only temporary anyway. Newsflash, As you get older you get wrinkles. You've earned them, so get over it! Anyone who has a problem with a wrinkled face isnt respecting the person behind it anyway, so why should that person care. I guess I just dont get the whole cosmetic surgery thing...

Me neither. Though people do consider it to be completely different from, say, getting your hair done, using wrinkle cream or putting on make up. If something about your appearance bothers you and you can do something about it, I don't see what's wrong in doing it.

Ignoring all the "poison" issues, and just thinking from the vanity side of course!

If you're interested I'll PM you the gory details of how my injections were done - not Botox, but I think the pain is similar! ;)

Yup ok and send it to 4bells and farjojo too. It's not something that I was considering straight away - just seemed weird that Caz asked the question and I was thinking about the same thing earlier in the day.

If you don't mind me asking Kaye how old were you when you got your first lot done?

No, I don't mind! Must have been 41 I think - that was 3 years ago.

Will PM you later - just off out to take my boy to hockey training... must go put 5 layers of clothing on.

Re: Botox

One of the guys I work with has a regular botox regime. He's 25....

When I asked him why, he said it was to prevent wrinkles from starting to happen at all.

I've slightly considered it - but am more interested in growing old disgracefully than hiding all of the signs that I've had an interesting life.

I prefer to follow all of the other recommendations for keeping my skin look young - avoiding the sun, keeping well hydrated and eating healthy food. I've never been very good at facing up to the reality of getting older, but it's something that you have to accept.

mandymoochops Feb 18th 2011 5:27 am

Re: Botox

On a level I agree with you, and I don't think anyone is trying to stop the clock - but if you can change something you aren't happy with - then why not?

I personally am not ready to have wrinkles - i'll accept them more when I feel older lol.
